Member Publications & Invitations

The Guild publishes a Membership Directory in October and the Guild newsletter, L’Aria, four times a year. Additional mailings will be made regarding special events, the annual meeting, and other activities of importance.

Preview Groups

One of the principal benefits of Guild membership is the opportunity to attend opera previews in an intimate setting. Each Guild Preview Group offers sociability, refreshments, and a preview of the coming Seattle Opera production. Opera previews are produced by the Guild and include narration and live music. The Preview Groups generally meet in private homes. The ambiance, timing, and type of refreshments are determined by each Preview Group to suit the wishes of its members.

Applicants may join a specific Preview Group or may elect the At Large category. Guild dues include Preview Group membership, although some groups elect to impose additional assessments on their members. For more information, contact the Preview Group representative. Applicants may elect to join two preview groups by the payment of an additional fee of $7.50 per year.

Volunteer Activities

Volunteer service is an important part of membership in the Guild. Applicants are encouraged to indicate the areas in which they have special skills that would be useful in Guild activities. For further information, call the Membership Secretary, Barbara Howell, at 206-232-8723.
